Best Phone For Children

!±8± Best Phone For Children

Cell phones, cell phones..All we hear about are the latest cell phones. Yes, technological advances are wonderful, but I also like a little practicality in my purchases as well. When asked to comment on my preference of cell phones, my first response is "What do you really do with your phone?" I like to talk and occasionally text on mine, but I am not big on using my cellphone to replace my laptop. When I want to send an email, it can wait until I get back in the office. If I want to watch ESPN highlights, I use that big box in the corner of my living room...yes, the old television..call me old-fashioned, but I prefer functional over glitz. I say this to lead into why I wrote this article in the first place..what is the best phone for children.

Many parents are quick to purchase a cell phone for their children. By children, I mean under the age of 13. What is the need for this? Children this age are typically with their parents most of the time, and spend a great deal of time at home. Most households still have a land line..yes, that old phone service...But wait...The old phone service still has merit!..If you consider all local calls are free regardless of the carrier, the monthly worrying about minute usage disappears. Most...I know I use this phrase a lot, but most children only call locally to their friends anyhow, so this is definitely a viable option. There's more... no long term contracts, no countless phone upgrades, and the chance of damaging these phones is greatly reduced since they are not being stuffed in tight jeans, book bags, etc. Plus, chances are you're already paying for this service.

So, if you are with me so far, here is the best phone for children..the Uniden ELBT585 5.8 GHz ! What is so great about the Uniden ELBT585 5.8 GHz ? For starters, this cordless phone has impeccable styling, beginning with the flip-phone design. Children love to imitate adults, so this phone looks and feels like a typical cell phone..Major cool points. I personally own this phone and the sound quality and ease of use are terrific. Want incorporate the latest tech gadgets? No problem. The phone is Bluetooth capable. It's these types of features which make this phone great for the whole family.

To initiate the Bluetooth mode, it's as simple as pressing a button! For example, you have just taken a call which ends up being longer than anticipated..no worries. Just slip on the headset, press the "transfer call to headset" button and call is transferred to the headset. That was easy. You can also use the handset to select previously dialed numbers, and press the main button on the headset to place the call. The literature states that the Bluetooth range is 10 meters, but I often walk out to my car to retrieve paperwork with no problem. A distance much greater than the advertised 10 meters.

You probably don't need another alarm clock in your house, however, the Uniden ELBT585 5.8 GHz also serve this purpose as well. You can set the phone to ring at a specific time. Again, you may not care for this feature, but children will think it is way cool.

The Uniden ELBT585 5.8 GHz looks, acts and feels just like a cell phone all the way down to ringtones. You can record your own ringtones, which is a piece of personalization that most cordless phones do not offer. Impressive!

The battery life for the phone is sufficient for this type of device. With normal use, the battery does a good job. The only time I have had any issues on this topic was when I was on a conference call lasting in excess of 3 hours; otherwise, no problems to report.

Overall the Uniden ELBT585 5.8 GHz is an excellent deal. If you consider the features, included answering machine, LCD, and stylish ergonomics, it is worth your time and money!
